Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Publius website, products, or services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use the site or services. Publius may update these terms from time to time, and continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Platform Purpose and No Legal Advice
Publius is an AI-powered software platform intended to support legal workflows, including document review, legal research, and related operational tasks. Publius does not provide legal advice, does not replace an attorney, and is not a substitute for independent professional judgment. Users remain solely responsible for legal decisions, filings, client communications, and compliance with applicable laws and professional rules.
User Responsibilities
You agree to use Publius lawfully and in accordance with all applicable regulations, confidentiality obligations, and professional standards. You are responsible for verifying all outputs before relying on them in any legal or business context. You are also responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for activities conducted under your account.
Availability, Third-Party Services, and Limitations
Publius may rely on third-party infrastructure and integrations. Service availability may be affected by maintenance, outages, or third-party failures. Publius is not responsible for delays, interruptions, transmission errors, or data loss caused by third-party systems or networks. References to performance improvements or outcomes are illustrative and do not guarantee results in any specific matter or jurisdiction.
Intellectual Property
All content, software, designs, logos, trademarks, and other intellectual property associated with Publius are owned by Publius Legal Inc. or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any Publius materials without prior written consent. Your use of the platform does not grant you any ownership rights in our intellectual property. Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide about the platform may be used by Publius without obligation or compensation to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Publius Legal Inc., its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the platform, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any applicable law or regulation, or any content or data you submit through the platform.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Publius Legal Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the platform, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory. Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amounts you have paid to Publius in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
Governing Law
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
Dispute Resolution
Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, you agree to first contact Publius at info@publius.law and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, either party may pursue resolution through binding arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property rights.
Termination
Publius may suspend or terminate your access to the platform at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to intellectual property, indemnification, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution.
If you have questions about these Terms of Service, contact info@publius.law. Publius reserves the right to modify these terms at any time without prior notice.
